The Estate
In the spring of 2017, during my lunch break, I wandered into the Regent’s Park Estate and immediately fell in love. It became my ‘favourite place,’ a term coined by my daughters, who patiently followed me on this journey for over three years. Throughout this time, I returned weekly, creating books and reference maps to document the changes that unfolded in the same spaces. When I began this project, I had no idea that significant parts of the estate would be demolished due to the HS2 project. By 2021, many parts of the original estate and its community had disappeared, though some areas remain to this day.

When I learned that the estate was marked for demolition, I wanted to mark its significance in a meaningful way. I printed site-specific photographs on canvas and hung them on the original washing lines as part of a small installation. This was a way to recognize and reflect the life that once existed there, returning the images to the spaces where they had been captured as a nod to the community and its history.
